Why pal.sale
Hey, my name is Aleks. I built pal.sale because I'm tired of clutter of selling things online. Giant forms, usage fees, packing things, insuring parcels, communicating with strangers to understand if they are genuine person.
And I have a lot of things, I'd like to sell, or just give out, but these things are not worth the time and effort, But these things are good! I don't want to throw them away either, so they just collect dust in my attic, waiting for their time. Sounds familiar?
pal.sale is my attempt to build something for people to use within their circle of trust. To just dismantle the clutter needed to connect two strangers, and give a platform for people to do a thing. And in return, you can also see what your people have to share, without a fear of being scammed.
Now, it's just a very small platform, almost a prototype, just to understand if it's only me who have this problem. But I have big plans if someone find it useful.
How to?
It's very easy to use. It'll take less than a minute to start:
- List your things. Simple form, only item name required.
- Share link with your friends. Once you created first post, on your listings page you will get a link for your private page.
Yes, that's it! No sign up required and completely free. If you're happy, to unlock better experience you still need to sign up, but that's still free and still will take less than a minute.
Why do you need to sign up?
There are two reasons for that:

cannot really tell that you is really

While you're anonymous, your credentials is saved in your browser,
but if you change computer, you would never have opportunity to get
your access back.
That's why there is a limited functionality for anonymous users, so you can try how it works and then decide whether you like it or not. - To prevent abuse of the system. When user is signed in, pal.sale trust them more.
I have some posts, would they disappear if I sign up?
No! They will stay with you. Your page will stay with you as well. Even if you already signed up, then started to add posts on another computer and then sign in there — those posts will still stay with you.
Do visitors of my page have to sign up to see my page?
No sign up required and your page is visible to everyone who have the link.
So, my private page is accessible to everyone by link?
Yes, that's a tradeoff I had to make. In order to remove as much friction as possible, I decided that it should be fine to have long URL generated for you. This URL is very very hard to guess, so no additional checks are made. The URL itself acts as "password" for your page.
Your page is not indexable by search engine, so nobody could ever find your page accidentially, unless you share it with them.
But be mindful on what your list or write on your page. You cannot control how people you shared your page with would share it later.
Plans
I have a lot of plans on this project. It can truly become a platform for people to build communities of trust, which eliminates a lot of clutter and friction between people.
Neighbourhood communities, automatic payment and pickup schedules, even less-clutter posting with help of AI — all of this could become true.
But this is where it starts, and without you, my user, I would not be able to do anything. So, just use it, and share feedback if you want to. Thank you for being part of this!
