Terms of service

Last updated: April 5, 2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using pal.sale. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Service in any capacity (including anonymously), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

pal.sale is a platform that allows individuals to create listings for items they wish to share, give away, or sell, and to share those listings with friends and other users via links.

3. User Content

3.1 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for all content you post, including item descriptions, photos, prices, and any other information. We do not screen, verify, or endorse any user-submitted content.

3.2 No Administration Liability

The administration of pal.sale is not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of any content posted by users. We are not a party to any transaction or arrangement between users and bear no liability for outcomes arising from interactions facilitated through the Service.

3.3 Prohibited Content

You may not post content that:

  • Is fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive
  • Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
  • Is illegal to sell or distribute in your jurisdiction
  • Contains offensive, hateful, or harmful material
  • Includes personal data of third parties without their consent

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without prior notice.

4. Privacy of Listings and Shared Links

4.1 Link-Based Access

Listings and personal pages on pal.sale are accessible to anyone who possesses the link. While listings are not indexed by search engines or listed in public directories, sharing a link — even privately — means the recipient can forward it to others.

4.2 No Guarantee of a Restricted Audience

Your listing page may be viewed by an unrestricted number of people. You should not include sensitive personal information — such as your home address, phone number, financial details, or any other private contact information — in your listings or page description unless you are fully comfortable with that information being seen by anyone.

4.3 Contact Information

If you need to arrange pickup or contact a buyer/recipient, we recommend exchanging contact details through a private channel rather than publishing them in your listing.

5. Accounts

5.1 Anonymous Use

Anonymous users may use the Service with limited functionality. Anonymous sessions are temporary; content created anonymously may be lost if the session expires.

5.2 Registered Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized account access.

5.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or that we determine, at our sole discretion, poses a risk to the Service or other users.

6. Transactions Between Users

pal.sale is a listing platform only. We do not process payments, handle goods, or mediate disputes. Any transaction, exchange, or arrangement made between users is entirely their own responsibility. We strongly encourage users to exercise common sense and caution when meeting strangers.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content, you grant pal.sale a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, pal.sale and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or harm resulting from interactions with other users.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document when changes are made.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate jurisdiction.

12. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us through the contact page.

13. Google User Data

pal.sale uses Google Sign-In for authentication, powered by Clerk. This section discloses how we interact with Google user data in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

13.1 Data Accessed

When you sign in with Google, we request the following OAuth scopes:

  • openid — to verify your Google identity
  • userinfo.email — your Google account email address
  • userinfo.profile — your name and profile picture

We do not request access to your Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, or any other Google services.

13.2 Data Usage

The Google user data we access is used solely to authenticate you and create or identify your account on pal.sale. Specifically:

  • Your email address is used as your account identifier and for service-related communications.
  • Your name and profile picture may be pre-filled as your display name and avatar on the Service.

We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating your account.

13.3 Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data with third parties, except:

  • Clerk (our authentication provider) processes your Google sign-in data on our behalf to manage authentication sessions. Clerk acts as a data processor and is bound by its own privacy policy and Google's requirements.
  • As required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users.

No Google user data is shared with advertisers or other third parties for their independent use.

13.4 Data Storage and Protection

Your account data, including information obtained via Google Sign-In, is stored securely using industry-standard practices. Authentication sessions are managed by Clerk. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

13.5 Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, your personal data — including any information obtained from Google — will be deleted from our systems within a reasonable period.

To request deletion of your account and associated data, please contact us through the contact page.
